VMT Long Term Care Management
Founded in 1988 by a group of healthcare professionals headed by Dr. Solanges Vivens, RN, BSN, MSN, LNHA, who currently serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. Within a few years, Dr. Vivens became the sole owner propelled by her passion to offer help, hope and healing to those in need, a practice which remains a guiding light in her life today. While manifesting the business savviness of her father, Dr. Vivens progressed from being a nurse to one of DC’s finest healthcare entrepreneurs.
Headquartered and incorporated in Washington, DC, VMT Long Term Care Managment is a minority-owned and operated business with more than 25 years of experience and a successful track record in long-term care and educating healthcare professionals. VMT Long Term Care Management is a parent company consisting of three different business verticals (Unique Residential Care Center, VMT Home Health Agency and VMT Education Center) that employs over 800 staff members.
In 1995, VMT added the only two District-owned nursing facilities to its management portfolio. The facilities suffered from negative media coverage and multiple deficiencies while under the current management firm at that time. However, once VMT took over, we were able to successfully turn both facilities around. While VMT no longer manages Washington Center for Aging Services, it still consults other nursing homes in the area, and now owns and operates Unique Residential Care Center.
Unique Residential Care Center
Your neighborhood award-winning, five-star nursing facility that delivers quality healthcare services and is home to 230 residents. Our nursing facility is led by a fine team of professionals including medical directors, dozens of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and nursing assistants. Our center offers a full range of medical, rehabilitation, social services, and activity programs. We are also only steps away from Union Station and the U.S. Capitol providing a continuity of care for those patients who feel that it is time for extended medical care.
VMT Home Health Agency
Established in 1995 with the goal of enhancing and expanding the continuum of long-term care offered by the company. Since the very beginning, VMT has supported the philosophy of providing care in the least restrictive setting. We believe in keeping residents in the community so that they can continue to enjoy their environment while maintaining their independence and dignity for as long as possible. The agency only hires caring, competent and professional staff, who strive to provide quality services and is comprised of experienced registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, social workers, physical and occupational therapist as well as medical doctors who serve as advisors. Because of our staff, VMT Home Health Agency is by far one of the most trusted Medicaid and Medicare agencies in Washington, DC.
VMT Education Center
Opened in 1991 to make post-secondary educational programs available for qualified, multicultural and diversely ethnic students to lead successful careers in healthcare. Over the years, the Center has offered a series of different healthcare training programs. At its peak the school has held a total of five training programs, but as of 2011, the school decided to eliminate most of them with the exception of three as the healthcare market began to phase out the need for certain professions. The three programs that remained most relevant were the Home Health Aide Program (HHA), the Nursing Assistant Program (NA), and the NA to HHA Bridge Program. Today, VMT is one of ten schools in the Washington, DC area that provides training programs of this kind and has graduated thousands of students and we continue to educate rising stars every day. The business of our school is not solely focused on maximizing profits, but more of a corporate social investment to the community and the healthcare industry.
